THE COLLECTION

A koi coiled around the finger, head and tail almost meeting. The fish is the ring. There is no band underneath it.​

White diamonds set one to a scale, each inside its own polished gold outline, so the rows overlap and throw real shadow. Mandarin garnet for the markings. The fins carry no stones at all: pierced openwork gold with ribbed parallel rays, which is the piece of technique the whole set is built around.

The Ring

The koi comes round the finger with the head facing forward at the top and the three lobed tail fanning out at the side, an open gap left between the nose and the tail.​

The head is polished white gold and deliberately unset, with two black diamond cabochon eyes and four hair thin yellow gold barbels lying flat against it. A cushion mandarin garnet sits on the crown in four claws. The shank is chased with running water.
