THE COLLECTION
Two things people reach for without thinking, made to the standard of things people keep for a lifetime.
Each object is taken apart and rebuilt as a full set: the same form becomes a choker, a bangle, a pair of hoops and a ring. Nothing hangs off a chain and nothing is a charm. The object is the jewel.
I - Le Rouge

Le Collier
A diamond tube that comes round the throat and stops. The two ends pass each other without meeting, the bullet on one side, the cap on the other.
The gap at the front is the piece. It reads as an object caught open rather than a closed circle. The clasp sits at the nape and vanishes into the pavé.

Le Bracelet
The same crossing at the top of the wrist, on a hinge so it opens rather than slides over the hand.
The pavé runs unbroken over the top of the wrist and the mechanism lives entirely underneath.

Les Créoles
Large hoops with the bullet at the top of each, where the hoop meets the ear.
Paved on the inner face as well as the outer, so the hoop stays lit from behind as well as in front.
II - La Cigarette

La Cigarette
The object itself, at true size, in white ceramic with a band of diamonds where the paper meets the filter.
The filter end is paved in orange sapphires, close set, so the colour reads as a single mass rather than a row of stones. Worn in the breast pocket.

La Bague
The crossing again, smaller: sapphire pavé over the knuckle, ruby ember set into the opposite end.
White ceramic all the way round the finger, with no metal band underneath.

Le Bracelet
A white ceramic tube crossing at the top of the wrist, one end paved in orange sapphire, the other closed by an oval ruby set flush.
Diamond collars mark both joins. The ceramic is turned in one piece, which is the difficult part of the whole collection.
